RBD Say Goodbye?!

All of you diehard RBD fans can put down your tissues and wipe away your tears (for now). RBD won’t be saying goodbye just yet! They will celebrate their breakup with a final farewell album that is set to be released in early 2009.

If you can’t wait until next year to hear new songs from your beloved RBD, then rest assured that you can indulge yourself with 15 of their most popular songs before the year’s end. The group is said to release a Greatest Hits CD sometime this year.

Their “Farewell Tour” kicks off this November. And to top it off, the group is even thinking about making a goodbye movie for their fans. Ellos nunca pararàn!

JLo does Milan!

Superwoman Jlo and hubby, Marc Anthony, jet-setted across the Atlantic to take part in Dolce’s 50th anniversary party. The power couple stole some of D&G’s thunder by arriving to the “Golden Party” by horse and carriage.

The Puerto Rican diva looked fierce in her silver dress coupled with sparkling silver sandals. However, not everyone feels the same way. Some have criticized JLo’s attire as being ill-fitting and a total style foul.

It’s a good thing that one bad outfit isn’t enough to spoil the whole bunch. Earlier in the week Dolce featured the Latina firecracker as a guest model in his Spring/Summer 2009 fashion show at Milan’s Fashion Week.

Angel y Khriz - Reggaeton’s first Environmentalist Duo

Angel y Khriz are doing their part to fight global warming. They are working together with ABSOLUT ® vodka to promote their campaign ABSOLUT Lights Out, which aims to educate people on energy saving behavior.

Los reggaetoneros son fiesteros tambien! They are encouraging bar and nightclub owners to organize a series of “Lights Out” parties in order to raise awareness about global warming. The Global Cooling campaign is meant to be a symbolic gesture to direct attention to the idea that in a perfect world, if everyone turned off the lights, we could reduce the effects of global warming and live in a cooler world.

You go Khriz y Angel!

Cafe Tacuba prepares for U.S. Tour

Los Chicos de Café Tacuba are going to have to drink muchos cafecitos as of November just to keep up with their busy schedule. The Mexican sextet, leading with 6 Latin Grammy nominations, are preparing for a 20 city U.S. Tour that will take them from East to West and back.

The tour is set to start off on Halloween, October 31st, in New York City. Followed by November dates with shows in Boston(11/1), Washington (11/2), North Carolina (11/4), Detroit (11/6), and Chicago (11/7). Once they finish their show in Kansas City on the 8th, they’ll kick their ruby shoes together and head on over to the West Coast, where they will stop in Colorado, California, Arizona and Texas. The Tour will finish back on the East Coast where Café Tacuba will hit up Oklahoma, Louisiana, Georgia and then wrap things up in Tampa, Florida on December 2nd.

If for some reason you can’t make it to one of their 25 shows in November, you can still get your Cafe fix. They are releasing a special edition of their album “Sino” entitled “Sino De Luxe” which will be available in stores November 4th.

Circo hopes to win first Latin Grammy

Puerto Rico’s Circo received 2 Latin Grammy nominations (Best Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Song), adding to their previous 5 nominations. Though the group’s third LP, Cursi, is clearly one of the best-produced, most melodic, smartly-written collection of songs to come out last year, the odds are once again stacked against them.

In the Best Alternative Album category, they’re up against Café Tacuba, Babasonicos, Manu Chao and Julieta Venegas. These awards shows are (at least in part) popularity contests, so we would expect any one of these artists to be favorites to win.

The Best Alternative Song category is equally stacked, though they have a much better shot! Here’s a look at the nominees:

  • Andres Calamaro, “5 Minutos”
  • Bajofondo feat. Gustavo Cerati, “El Mareo”
  • Ximena Sariñana, “Normal”
  • Chambao, “Papeles Mojados”
  • Café Tacuba, “Volver a Comenzar”
It’s been a big year for the quartet, as they added to their fan-base with another strong pop-rock record. Tune in to the Latin Grammy Awards on November 13th.

Pitbull has big plans for 2009!

One of the hardest-working men in showbiz, Mr. 305, will throw down the gauntlet next year. Pitbull is gearing up for his big return to the rap game in 2009, armed with a new album and his very own record label. A deal has been struck between Famous Artist Music and The Orchard, which purchased TVT Records after it filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.

Pitbull continued to work, despite his former label going under. In fact, his current single, Krazy, a joint-effort with Lil John, is tearing up the clubs and dominating airwaves. The video will be shot soon, with guest appearances by Fat Joe, Rick Ross and Hurricane Chris.

Christian Chávez promotes HIV awareness

The RBD member is the new spokesperson for ADONIS (Agencia de Noticias sobre Diversidad Sexual), where he will participate in a national campaign throughout Mexico, raising awareness about the spread of HIV.

The 24 year-old said, “We have to be more aware about [the virus]. A lot of teens don’t protect themselves. They see it as something that can never happen to them.”

The campaign will run from now until national AIDS day, on December 1st.
